The Twig Health team is heading today to our partner SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University Medical Center for their annual Safety and Quality Fair. We’ll be presenting alongside Healthfirst the incredible transformation of the medical center’s value-based care ops.

It all started with a simple, disruptive idea: Why shouldn’t patients in underserved communities experience the same standard of service they expect from friendly retail brands?

Twig Health and SUNY Downstate offer a ‘front desk’ concierge service -Twig nurses and medical assistants copiloted by AI – revolutionizing patient experience and outcomes.

By focusing on elegant, accessible service, we’ve:
– Empowered thousands of patients to receive true concierge-level care.
– Simplified scheduling, leading to thousands of VBC appointments and interventions.
– Reduced the purely administrative burden on Downstate’s clinical teams, allowing them to focus on top-of-license work.
– Directly supported the medical center in achieving well-deserved quality star improvements – a full star both in Medicare and in Medicaid (Healthfirst).

We’ve proven that this strategy is a winner for patients, clinical teams, and the hospital’s financial health in a value-based model.

None of this would have been possible without the steadfast, visionary leadership of SUNY’s Chief Medical Officer, Mohamed Nakeshbandi, MD, MHA, FACP, and his forward-thinking team, Dr. Lavonia Francis, Mary Lepera, coran calliste, Hareesh B., and the rest of SUNY Downstate’s amazing team

Big shoutout to our incomparable team, Jenifer Santander RN, BSN, BSIST, PMP, Morgan Schweikert, and the rest of our amazing super nurses and medical assistants, Axelle Rimpel, Leslie Taylor, Kayla U., Jaylia Kuilan, Ashley Santiago, and Megan Hartle.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate this journey. Our hope is that this strategic approach will spread. It’s time to prioritize high-touch service for all patients – especially those who have been historically underserved.
