According to the American Psychological Association, nearly 4 out of 10 workers are worried that AI might make some or all of their job duties obsolete in the future. That’s a lot of stress on working Americans.
However, a bit of nuance is needed. The study was conducted in April 2023, which was probably peak hype for ChatGPT in the general media. I think that since then we’ve realized AI still has a way to go before replacing humans.
Specifically in healthcare, there is a very strong human-centric bond created – patients can sniff chatbots from a mile away and prefer dealing with empathetic HCPs
Moreover, with a national shortage of healthcare professionals (nurses, physicians, you name it), giving care teams super-powers and alleviating non-clinical burden through AI actually makes a lot of sense.
